1. Introduction, apologies and substitutions
The Chair welcomed Elin Jones to the Committee and thanked Bethan Jenkins for her contribution to the petitions process.

2. New petitions
2.1P-04-429 Re-opening of the Carmarthen to Aberystwyth Train Line
The Committee considered this petition for the first time and agreed to write to the Minister for Local Government and Communities to enquire whether there has been any change in the position since his last correspondence to the Committee on this subject.
2.2P-04-430 Proposed closure of Tenby Minor Injuries Unit
The Committee considered this petition for the first time and agreed to write to Hywel Dda Health Board to seek its views on the petition, copying in the Minister for Health and Social Services as well as the Chair of the Health and Social Care Committee.
2.3P-04-431 Against Health Cuts from the Residents of Pembrokeshire
The Committee considered this petition for the first time and agreed to write to Hywel Dda Health Board to seek its views on the petition, copying in the Minister for Health and Social Services, as well as the Chair of the Health and Social Care Committee.
2.4P-04-432 Stop the Army Recruiting in Schools
The Committee considered this petition for the first time and agreed to:
Write to the Minister for Education and Skills to seek his views on the petition;
Request a Research Service briefing on the issues raised by the petition.
2.5P-04-433 CCTV in Slaughterhouses
The Committee considered this petition for the first time.
Joyce Watson stated that she had signed a Statement of Opinion on this subject.
The Committee agreed to seek the views of the Minister for Environment and Sustainable Development on the petition and to request details of when the findings from the consultation on the implementation of EU Regulations on the protection of animals at the time of slaughter will be made public.
2.6P-04-434 The Welsh and Somalilanders have common love of poetry
The Committee considered this petition for the first time and agreed to write to the Presiding Officer to seek her views on the petition.
2.7P-04-435 Wales & Border Railways Franchise 2018 to be Operated on a Not-for-Dividend Basis
The Committee considered this petition for the first time and agreed to write to the Minister for Local Government and Communities to seek his views on the petition.
3. Updates to previous petitions
3.1P-04-404 Aberporth Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
The Committee considered correspondence in relation to this petition and agreed to write to the petitioner seeking views on the Ministerial response received.
3.2P-04-421 Oppose Trident moving to Wales
The Committee considered correspondence in relation to this petition and agreed to write again to the First Minister to seek a view on the specific request expressed in the petition.
3.3P-04-398 Campaign for a Welsh Animal Offenders Register
The Committee agreed to:
Seek a balance of evidence on the subject, including from the police;
Undertake a consultation on the issue;
Undertake a site visit to an animal shelter.
3.4P-03-240 Road safety on the A40 in Llanddewi Velfrey
The Committee considered correspondence in relation to this petition and agreed to write to the Minister to enquire about the likelihood of the bid mentioned in his letter being successful.
3.5P-03-222 National Osteoporosis Society
In light of the work that has been undertaken by the Welsh Government and the improvements made following the implementation of the National Service Framework for Older People, the Committee agreed to close the petition.
3.6P-04-334 Petition for a new renal unit at Prince Charles Hospital
The Committee considered correspondence in relation to this petition and agreed to write to the Minister for Health and Social Services to ask about decisions made following discussions with the Welsh Renal Clinical Network.
3.7P-04-408 Child and Adolescent Eating Disorder Service
The Committee considered correspondence in relation to this petition and agreed to write to BEAT to seek its views on the Ministerial response and to ask whether it feels support services for children and adolescents with eating disorders are sufficient in Wales.
3.8P-04-335 The Establishment of a Welsh Cricket Team
The Committee considered correspondence in relation to this petition and agreed to draft a short report in order to hold a Plenary debate on the subject.
3.9P-04-365 Protect buildings of note on the Mid Wales Hospital site
The Committee considered correspondence in relation to this petition.
The Chair stated that, in his capacity as county councillor, he has had discussions with parties on both sides of the issue.
The Committee agreed to ask Brecon Beacons National Park Authority for an update on the situation, including whether it will be considering placing the building on a local list.
